Avast Bootable USB

I was working on someone's laptop that kept going to a BSOD. It was a Windows 10 system. I couldn't get into safe mode and the reset options wouldn't work. All the built in options from Windows; Start up repair, SFC, DISM, sytem restore, chkdsk, none of it worked. It was suggested online that it might be a virus. I couldn't get Windows to start up in any form or manner so the only way I could scan for any virus was to use a bootable CD/DVD/USB drive.

I was going to download one of the Internet when I discovered that my Avast Ant-Virus could produce one for me.

So down by the clock, you might have to click on the arrow, and you should see the avira icon, right click on it and click on Open Avast user interface.

Click on the Protection option, looks like a lock, on the left hand side and when the purple area opens click on Virus Scans.

IN the next window click on Rescue Disk, right hand side.

Insert a CD/DVD/USB depending what you want. I used a USB flash drive so I clicked on CREATE USB.

Then wait till it's finished. That's it. Eject it out. Put it in the computer you want scanned, boot of it and run a scan.

Click on All hard discs and then Start scan.

If you rather use another option try these:

Kaspersky Rescue Disk - https://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/krd18#downloads

Bitdefender -https://download.bitdefender.com/rescue_cd/latest/

Dr. Web - https://free.drweb.com/aid_admin/

Sophos Bootable Anti-Virus - https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/52011

A search on the web will reveal others. By the way, the scan didn't detect any malware and in the end I had to reinstall windows.
