www.mallskils.site Is A Scam

I saw an ad on Facebook for a 2TB External Hard Drive, on sale for $9.99 USD (original order placed June 16 202). Right away I suspected the ad but decided to the unthinkable and place an order. By the time shipping and handling was added and the conversion to US dollars, I paid about $35 CND.

What I expected back; either a low quality drive, a used drive or worst, never to hear from these people again. Here is a screenshot of my actual order.

Here is what I received.

A flash drive. Not only that, but it looks like one of those 2TB flash drives that have debunked on so many YouTube videos by tech experts. Wish.com was famous for selling those things. There are no markings, company info on the drive or the plastic pack it came in. If I was a company making legitimate 2TB flash, I would brag about it left and right all over the drive and packaging. But nothing here because it's an obvious fake. (I haven't opened it yet, still trying to get a refund through Paypal)

And even if it was real, it's still not what I ordered. I did some research online; I know I should have done it before, not much info on this company. But I found a report from someone who bought a similar product from them, and the same thing happened to them.

Here's their scam. They advertise hard drives for cheap, send you a flash drive, when you try to get your money back they only offer you a fraction of your purchase price back. In my case, 15%. I told them no deal. I wanted my full purchase price back or send me the hard drives I ordered. Them not offering to replace this drive with the hard drive I thought I was buying tells me they don't have them to sell in the first place.

So I took a chance, and this time it didn't pay off. The only good news here is right now there website store is gone. But here are the details to be wary about from their site. These scam artists usually open up somewhere else, eventually.

update Nov 26 2020 (I'm not sure what date I wrote this originally.): I went through PayPal tot ry to get arefund but then they wanted me to send the product back at my expense which would of cost me over $50 with tracking. It would have been a lot cheaper using surface mail but it doesn't offer any tracking. So a lost cause. I chucked that crappy flash drive in the deepest darkest pit I could find, OK, it was just my garbage can.

Sadly, at the time of this writing, this site is still in operation. That's the internet for you.
