Came across a reference to this site that helps you find your stolen or lost camera by using the exif data, mainly the serial number information, that may be embedded into your photos. They seem to have a Free limited search and a more extensive paid for one.

I decided to test a photo taken with my ancient camera. I dragged it to the site were it says drag & drop photo here but got this error message:
The 'SONY DSC-W330' does not write serial information in the exif. See the supported cameras page for a list of models that do.fail

If you know the serial number, you can still run a manual search, or a look at the map and submit a report.
